The programs at American Youth Dance Theater are designed to meet the needs of all students, recreational through pre-professional. Our teaching philosophy promotes learning in a positive environment with lots of individual attention. AYDT's personal approach to teaching dance helps each student reach their highest individual potential and feel a sense of pride in their accomplishments. All classes are taught here in our professionally equipped studio on New York's Upper East Side. Our highly motivational approach, encourages each student to aspire towards their own personal goals in a manner which celebrates the individual and promotes self-esteem and positive body image. Studying dance provides great physical benefits including good posture, strength and excellent muscle toning. In addition to providing high quality dance instruction, our expert faculty takes pride in teaching children the skills of focus and commitment as well as the importance of discipline and respect of self and others, valuable skills which will stay with our students for life.
Parents looking for the best kids dance studio in New York will find a wide variety of classes for children of all ages at AYDT, from toddlers through high school. Our most popular classes include Ballet and Dance for both Mommy-n-Me and Toddlers, as well as Hip Hop, Tap, Broadway and Jazz. Our Summer Intensive programs and Dance Summer Camp prove to be increasingly popular every year and we have just introduced Dance Themed Birthday Parties. Please see our Class Description to find out which classes would be of most interest to your child. In association with Elite Body Pilates and Center for Dance and Body, we also offer adult classes.
At American Youth Dance Theater, we strongly believe in performance as a vehicle to enhance learning and promote a positive self-image. All AYDT students ages Pre-School through High School have the opportunity to perform in our Holiday Spectacular and our Spring Recital. These performances are held in a theatrical setting complete with costumes, scenery and lighting. All our students love performing, and the most frequently asked question after a performance is "When is the next show?". Not all kids are natural performers. Some go on stage with great ease, while others are a bit shy. Thankfully, the nurturing environment at AYDT provides a safe atmosphere for all students to develop the self-confidence to go on stage and showcase their progress for family and friends. Words cannot express the joy felt by parents and faculty members during our performances, as we watch each student shine in their own unique way.
